Standards are the bedrock upon which many cabling projects are built. The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) and International Organization for Standardization (ISO) publish and regularly update performance standards for copper and fiber-optic cabling systems. These standards often are cited in project documents and referred to by design and installation professionals.
This webcast, produced by Cabling Installation & Maintenance, provides an overview of recently updated TIA and ISO cabling standards for both copper and fiber cabling. The copper-focused standards address technologies including end-to-end links, direct-attach copper (modular plug terminated link), as well as an update on Single Pair Ethernet. Fiber-focused standards that will be covered include the TIA-568.3-E Optical Fiber Cabling Component Standard, as well as a look at very small form factor connectors, and specifications for delivering 400-Gbit/sec transmission over multimode fiber. In addition to describing the standards’ requirements and specifications, the seminar will provide practical information on the test equipment, as well as testing techniques, to assure installed systems meet the standards’ performance requirements.
